My name is Ms. Santiago and I’m looking forward to be your child’s math teacher for this school year 2013-2014. In order for your child to be successful he/she needs to be prepared each day with a pencil, three subject spiral notebook and a two pocket math folder.
I give math homework EVERYDAY. Homework assignments count for 20% of your child’s grade. Please make sure your child completes his/her homework daily. I post my math assignments on bsantiago144.wikispaces.com so, you may check to see homework assignments.
I have a point system which I use in my class. Your child can earn ten points per period during math class. Students earn the points by completing assignments, homework, participating in class discussions, and working cooperatively. Every Friday I add up the points and send home a positive letter home if your child has earned enough points for the week. This is a way you can monitor your child’s progress in his/her math class.
I will be calling to discuss your child’s progress in math class and discuss my expectations also, answer any questions which you may have concerning your child. If you want to arrange a meeting during the school day just leave a message at 718-379-7400 and I will get back to you in order to schedule a mutual time to meet.
